Honeywell Arts & Entertainment Announces New Events at the Honeywell House

Events include Tastes on the Terrace, Mrs. Honeywell Tea, and more



Honeywell Arts & Entertainment adds new events to its lineup at the Honeywell House. Admission for events is available online or by calling the Honeywell Box Office at 260.563.1102. Events with free admission require reservations due to limited seating. Reservations can be made online or by calling the Honeywell Box Office. Honeywell House programming is presented by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service.

 

A venue of Honeywell Arts & Entertainment, the Honeywell House is the former home of Mrs. Mark Honeywell. The historic residence offers a variety of artistic, educational, and musical offerings ranging from recitals to lectures and outdoor dining events.

 

History of the Iconic St. Elmo Steak House – Tues., February 25 at 7:00 p.m.

How is a famous Indiana steak house known for shrimp cocktail? Chris Ratay, Honeywell Vice President of Hospitality and former General Manager of St. Elmo, will take guests through the history, beginning in 1902 through his personal journey which included managing the restaurant during the 2012 NFL Super Bowl in Indianapolis. The evening will include, of course, “the” sinus-clearing experience! Admission for the event is $10 per person (includes a two-piece shrimp cocktail).

 

Michael Shofi and Sofie Zamchick – Tues., March 4 at 7:00 p.m.

Honeywell Arts Academy alumni Sofie and Michael will present an evening of songs and connection. Each June, the Academy gathers emerging musical leaders together in Wabash. These two alumni will perform an intimate, living room style performance, the way music has been shared for hundreds of years. Admission to the event is free; however, reservations are required due to limited seating. This event is presented by the Honeywell Arts Academy.

 

12 Day Trail of John Wilkes Booth – Thurs., March 13 at 7:00 p.m.

Mike Beauchamp and travel friend Kenny Crace recently followed the 12 day trail of assassin John Wilkes Booth and researched the path of Lee Harvey Oswald. You’ll be fascinated to learn of these two assassins. Admission to the event is free; however, reservations are required due to limited seating.

 

America’s Writers: Works, Quirks, and Jerks – Thurs., March 27 at 7:00 p.m.

Mark Canada, Chancellor of Indiana University Kokomo and former professor of American literature, will inform, inspire, and entertain with his light-hearted lecture. You’ll “read behind the lines” of some of America’s greatest writing to discover the sometimes amusing, always fascinating stories that accompany the writers and their works. Admission to the event is free; however, reservations are required due to limited seating.

 

Construction, Conflict, and the Canal: “The Irish War” on the Wabash and Erie – Thurs., April 17 at 7:00 p.m.

Dr. Jay Perry, an Indiana native and historian specializing in policy and U.S. immigration history, will present a compelling lecture on the Irish canal worker wars in Wabash County. With degrees from the University of Evansville, Indiana University, and a doctorate from Bowling Green State University, Dr. Perry offers expert insights into this fascinating local history. Admission to the event is free; however, reservations are required due to limited seating.

 

Dogs Tell A Story Too! – Tues., April 22 at 7:00 p.m.

Debbie Bryant will present an insightful session about force-free dog training, emphasizing the importance of body language and verbal cues in communicating effectively with your dog. Discover techniques for training and nurturing a strong bond without force. Debbie will also delve into the roles of testing and working with therapy dogs, providing valuable knowledge for pet owners and enthusiasts alike. Admission to the event is free; however, reservations are required due to limited seating.

 

Taylor University Football – Tues., May 6 at 7:00 p.m.

Joe and Jake Halderman will share their experiences with the Christ-centered Taylor University Football Team. Learn about EMAT (Every Man a Trojan), TUFF (Taylor University Football Families), recruiting, practice routines, long snapping, coaching staff, and the transformation of the team's facilities. Discover the heart and spirit behind Taylor football. Admission to the event is free; however, reservations are required due to limited seating.


Popular Piano Tunes – Thurs., May 15 at 7:00 p.m.

Tim Stephenson and Nicha Stapanukul will perform an evening of captivating piano performances. This talented young couple will deliver an exciting and entertaining program of piano favorites, showcasing their skill and passion for music in this dynamic and engaging performance. Admission to the event is free; however, reservations are required due to limited seating.

 

Tastes on the Terrace – Every Wednesday in June, reservations start at 5:00 p.m.

Enjoy a light menu on the outdoor terrace overlooking the beautiful grounds. Drinks available. Reservations are required to provide the best experience for all guests. Indoor seating will be available in case of rain. This series is sponsored by Nancy Fisher, with additional support provided by Richard Tucker.

 

Dream Lover! Vintage Songs of Love – Thurs., June 12 at 7:00 p.m.

Enjoy a lively performance by Chicago duo Nostalgia Entertains, featuring pop hits from the 1920s to the 1960s with vocals, keyboards, costumes, and dance. This playful, flirty show includes favorites like “Dream Lover,” “Pretty Woman,” and “Blue Moon.” This refreshing, upbeat take on classic love songs will leave you smiling and feeling the joy of music through the decades. Admission to the event is free; however, reservations are required due to limited seating.

 

Robert Delaunay and the Paris of the Belle Époque – Thurs., June 26 at 7:00 p.m.

Discover the vibrant world of Robert Delaunay (1885-1941), a modern French painter renowned for his avant-garde creations in pre-World War I Paris. Join Anne Greeley, Associate Professor and Chair of Art and Design at Indiana Wesleyan University, as she delves into Delaunay’s work during the Belle Époque, revealing how the era’s cultural and technological innovations sparked his bold experiments with color and form. Mrs. Honeywell's Birthday Tea – Thurs., July 17 at 11:30 a.m.

Enjoy a very special celebration in honor of Mrs. Honeywell with a “low tea” luncheon and fashion show. The Francis Shoppe will delight with beautiful fashions as guests savor treats of tea sandwiches, sweets, and pastries made by Chef David Ericsson. Treat yourself and invite a friend to attend this delightful event. Admission for the event is $30 per person (includes tax and gratuity).

 

Bringing Worlds Together Through Music – Thurs., July 24 at 7:00 p.m.

Experience an unforgettable musical journey with Chanticleer featuring Paul Klemperer on clarinet and alto sax. From Ellington to Beethoven, Eastern Europe to Brazil and Appalachia, explore the rich tapestry of global sounds and celebrate unity through diverse melodies. Admission to the event is free; however, reservations are required due to limited seating. This event is sponsored by Beacon Investment Services.

 

For Hank and Louise – Sun., July 27 at 3:00 p.m.

Marisa Votapek, a violinist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and long-time friend of Hank and Louise Leander, will play a few of their favorite melodies including “Meditation” from Thais by Massenet and “Gabriel’s Oboe” by Morricone from the 1986 film The Mission. Pianist Tim Stephenson will accompany Marisa. Admission to the event is free; however, reservations are required due to limited seating. This event is sponsored by Pete and Susie Jones in memory of Hank and in honor of Louise.
