The Power of the Arts | Mary Donna's Story

Updated: Nov 16, 2021

The arts are essential in our daily lives! Think back just over a year ago when the pandemic brought our world to a screeching halt. For many months, we longed for the return of the arts and live entertainment. Why? Because the arts provide joy, happiness, creativity, inspiration, and hope. The arts also have a proven effect on academic learning, focus, discipline, social skills, expands our world-views in our multi-cultural society, and can connect us to a world where anything is possible!

Mary Donna Collins, Volunteer & Supporter

Mary Donna Collins believes in the power of the arts. A Honeywell Foundation volunteer for over three decades, she initially provided office-related assistance to the Educational Outreach team and later served as an usher for live performances and other events. As the Honeywell Foundation grew and expanded, so did Mary Donna’s volunteerism. She later joined the Honeywell team as part-time Show Manager running volunteer operations behind the scenes.

Student Matinees are a part of Honeywell Arts in Education

"I have especially enjoyed working the Page-to-Stage Student Matinees and seeing the joy and excitement on the children’s faces as they enter the Honeywell Center. Children growing up in rural communities often have limited opportunities to experience the arts such as those provided by the Honeywell Foundation.”

Mary Donna’s passion for the Honeywell Foundation led her to establish a planned gift to help ensure that the Foundation continues to provide the transformative power of arts programming and education to our community for generations to come. When asked why she chose to provide a planned gift, Mary Donna replied, “It was an easy decision for me. I realized this was another opportunity for me to contribute to the good work of the Honeywell Foundation. I am extremely pleased knowing my gift will help provide exciting arts opportunities to all ages for generations to come.”
